Detroit Social Club

Black & White

Release date: 7th December 2009

Label: Fiction Records

Detroit Social Club have been holed up away from fans for months, handcrafting new material between their Newcastle abode and the capital, alongside producer Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, DJ Shadow). Their eagerly anticipated debut album is now in sight. During this knuckle down period the band did manage to find time to squeeze in the last ever support slot for Oasis of course.

DSC have unleashed a first glimpse at what to expect from their debut long player with a free download entitled ‘Black & White’ available now through www.detroitsocialclub.net. It’s a mesmerising northern blues stomp which builds into a psychedelic supernova; conjuring Screamadelica-esque rhythms, the raw energy of their heroes Brian Jonestown Massacre intertwined with spectres of the deep south, all the while retaining the unique DSC sound that has won them the dedication of fans on previous singles and countless live shows. This release coincides with a handful of tour dates, which will see them play a number of the outstanding new songs from the debut record that some fans will be hearing for the first time. The gigs (listed below) mostly take in The Midlands and The North, kicking off with a free show at The Flower Pot in Kentish Town, London on December 9th.

‘Black & White’ is a free download for the patient fans of old and the soon to be converted and features on the new record, due out in spring 2010.
