Detroit Social Club

Kiss The Sun

Release date: 1st March 2010

Label: Fiction Records

With the cold scar of the ice and snow finally starting to melt, Detroit Social Club make a timely announcement to bring us the warmth of their new EP ‘Kiss The Sun’ which will be released through Fiction Records on March 1st. The band have also been confirmed for an NME Awards Show at Cargo on February 18th 2010 as part of a headline tour that will kick off their great journey this year.

The band have been holed up away from fans for months, handcrafting new material between their Newcastle abode and the capital, alongside producer Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, DJ Shadow). DSC’s eagerly anticipated debut album is now in sight and their ‘Kiss The Sun’ EP gives a glimpse of the magnificence to come. The title track is an epic, open-armed anthem that sets out exactly where DSC intend to take us in the coming months. It’s a beautiful blinding light, taking willing passengers through a rolling tribal rhythm, deep northern soul guitar riffs and front man/songwriter David Burn’s distinctive hypnotic vocal.

If you can’t wait until March there is a free download available now entitled ‘Black & White’ through the band’s website www.detroitsocialclub.net. It’s a mesmerising northern blues stomp which builds into a psychedelic supernova; conjuring Screamadelica-esque rhythms, the raw energy of their heroes Brian Jonestown Massacre intertwined with spectres of the deep south, all the while retaining the unique DSC sound that has won them the dedication of fans on previous singles and countless live shows.

‘Black & White’ is a free download for patient fans of old as well as the soon-to-be-converted. It features on the new album, due out in May.
