Bombay Bicycle Club
Magnet
Release date: 28th September 2009
Label: Island Records
Having released their critically acclaimed debut album ‘I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose’ this summer (which would have comfortably charted in the Top 40 were it not for 9 Michael Jackson albums lodging there), Bombay Bicycle Club will round off what’s promising to be a summer of stand out festival performances, with the release of new single ‘Magnet’.
With a riff that’s being adopted as a terrace style sing along at recent gigs, ‘Magnet’ looks set to be the track that catapults the four piece into the nation’s conscience.
It’s been a busy few months for Bombay Bicycle Club that has seen them become regulars in the Hypemachine’s ‘Most Blogged Artists’ list: first the band stormed the BBC Introducing Stage at Radio 1’s ‘One Big Weekend’ (where they were heralded as the best new act to play); next up was the “Tour For Lulu” – where the band invited their fans to tell them where to play – and saw Bombay play down a mine shaft in Devon and at ruined castle in Bolton, amongst others.
This was followed by a pair of spell-binding Glastonbury performances to huge crowds (already singing along to all the songs) and a sold out album launch show at The Garage, suggesting Bombay have very much established themselves as one of the hottest new tickets of the year.
‘I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose’ is available now through island Records.
